Autumn and Kickstart

It's autumn in Sydney and I finally found work. I started two weeks ago as a In-house Designer for IDM in Sydney. I love the job. It's interesting, challenging and gives me the freedom to grow and learn.
I am mostly working in print design since they have another web designer in the team, but I get the occasional web related job.

In the last months I worked occasionally on a freelance job, which now got lost a bit. I wanted to post one of the first drafts of a new logo, for a Jazz and Art production and publication company. The request was to incorporate 1920ies Bauhaus structure, earthy, American-Indian colors and the face of an eagle, possibly drawn in the style of New Zealand's Maori art. The client had a very specific idea in her head, but it took us a while to get it to paper. This is one of the first drafts and the logo we are at now is very far from this first tries.

99Designs.com

Since I am still looking for a job, I spent most of my days working on design contests held on 99Designs. It's a great site, where clients post contests for the design work they need. Registered designers can then submit their entries and at the end of the contest the client will chose a winner.
Check out my profile with some of the work I've done. Here are some of my last entries.

For now I post the Banner I did for Young Guns, for their annual creativity award "Young Guns of the Year"

Moving and some recent work...

I finally got settled in Sydney. I got a Visa to legally work in Australia and am now looking for work. In the meantime I keep myself busy with some freelance work.

I wanted to post some of the work I did at the internshoip at The VProject / Lighthouse Interactive, so here we go:

The first work is an email newsletter for Skincarestore. I did the layout and also the html for the email. The other two are email promotions for Coco Mademoiselle, a new perfume by Chanel. Also with those I did the layout and the html.

I also worked on some banners, which I will post soon.

Pen Design

Last May I got the opportunity to design a line of pens to launch a website called Penbyme, which would give the customer the chance to design their own pens and to buy them. The project was put on ice for now, but the designs for the pens are done and I wanted to post them. It was a really challenging but fun project. The main problem was to create an appealing design in such a small space. The design space is not bigger than 10cm x 1cm. It was a challenge and something new. I will post the link to the site, once the project has been launched.

Moving Down Under

In the beginning of October I left Milan for Sydney, Australia. I started an Internship at Lighthouse Interactive / The VProject in Sydney mid October and finished about mid-December.

I really enjoyed my time there and learned a lot. I therefore decided to give it a shot and try to find work here in Sydney. End of January I will get another Visa for a year and hopefully will soon be able to write about my new job. Meanwhile I keep doing freelance work for friends back in Milan and some other small projects.
